Now then, where were we?
Return of the fax, a *highly scientific* survey, and early access to live show tickets
Hello. Tom here.
Since we last spoke, quite a bit has happened…
To my eternal shame, the last time I wrote up an update was back in November 2025. At that time, I was fully employed, and had a job and responsibilities.
Then we got to Christmas, and I decided that the time was right not to have a job any more. At least for a bit.
So, for the last six months I’ve been on sabbatical.
In that time I’ve been travelling the globe, teaching myself to build mobile apps, and have interrupted the news on BBC Radio 2 with an impromptu ukulele performance.
The top line is that all is well, and I’ve been very much enjoying doing absolutely nothing for a bit.
The bottom line (?) is that I’ve not really done anything worth emailing you about - so I haven’t.
But now I’m back at the coal face of employment, and daft things are being produced for the internet left, right and centre.
So, in no particular order, here are a few things I’d love to tell you about:
Exclusive Live Quiz Tickets
On Thursday 24th July I’ll be hosting a quiz, live at the Phoenix Arts Club in London, and it would be great to see you there if you can make it.
It’s a bit like a pub quiz, but with enhanced nonsense.
There will be special guests, silly things for you to watch and listen to, and a jackpot prize for the winning team at the end of the night.
Tickets officially go on sale this Thursday, but are available for purchase now exclusively for Substack subscribers.
Tickets are per person, and there’s a maximum of 6 people to a team.
There’s also a fairly limited capacity, so if you’re planning on coming please do mobilise your mates sooner rather than later 😇
A Vitally Important Survey
At some point in our lives, we are all required to conduct some very serious scientific research.
Well this time it’s my turn, and I would be extremely grateful if you wouldn’t mind filling in this highly important survey.
The survey is completely anonymous, and aims to capture the mood of the nation around various key topics and issues.
It will only take you a couple of minutes to do, and as my friend Ash confirmed on Instagram, I’m not lying - it genuinely is fun:
The Fax Machine Is Back
You may remember that a while ago I built my own fax machine.
People could send questions to it, and I would print them out and read them aloud on TikTok live, and it was all a lot of fun.
Then, a bit like M&S and the Co-op, some ne’er-do-wells decided to hack into the system and break it, which was mildly inconvenient to say the least.
Well the good news is that the fax machine is now fully mended, and has returned to TikTok on Sundays from 8pm.
You’re very welcome to join us in trying to forget that we’ve all got work the next morning, and if you’d like to send in a message to be printed, you can do so via tomsfax.com.
That’s It For Now
Thanks so much for reading, and to everyone who messaged while I was off doing non-work things.
There will be another update at the start of July, but if you’d like to say hello in the meantime you’re very welcome to reply to this newsletter, or hunt me down on Instagram.
Cheers!
Tom
